The design of the family home incorporated the clients' desire to celebrate the city views, with a focus on both entertainment spaces, and areas for relaxation and refuge to support the changing needs of the family over time. The brief required the creation of several living spaces to serve the family’s needs including outdoor living spaces, communal areas to gather, and private retreats for both parents and children. All living spaces have a seamless connection to the outdoors, providing beautiful views of the city and the landscape fulfilling the client's wishes.

The property, which sits along a bike path that travels up and out through many of Brisbane’s northern suburbs, is defined by its edges – the greenbelt slicing through the inner suburb, Grange. The public edges of the park and bike path influenced the layout of the home – the living, dining and kitchen area is a gathering space that has the opportunity to interact with neighbours and the community. As a completed entity, Uxbridge House gives beyond the family and out to the surrounding neighbourhood.
